About The Heliport

Glasgow City Heliport is a small helicopter base located on the banks of the River Clyde, slightly west of Glasgow City Centre. It is situated next to the Tall Ship attraction, and is across the Clyde from Glasgow's science museum and tower. The Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) is also literally, next door.

The Heliport is run by Bond Air Services - there is a small maintenance base here for their aircraft, this being the second operations Headquarters for Bond as well as their main HQ at Staverton in Gloucestershire. Occasionally some Bond aircraft can be seen in some capacity that are in for maintenance or other work, whether they be BO105's or EC135's. It also has the capacity for a few small helicopters if there is an event on at the SECC, for example.

There are two helicopters permanently based at the Heliport:

  • An EC135T2+ of the Strathclyde Police Air Support Unit, registered G-SPAO with callsign Victor Mike 70;
  • And another EC135T2+ of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Either G-SASA or G-SASB, callsign Helimed 5.
